Yup, I still cant believe it.

The BC Lions absolutely man handled the Edmonton Eskimos last night by the sound of a 36-1 drubbing in a game that started ugly and stayed ugly until the final gun. Ricky Ray early in the game threw two interceptions to Korey Banks and the defensive beast of the CFL LB Solomon Elimimian and then BC proceeded to go to work. Lulay found Akeem Foster, Arland Bruce III twice, and Geroy Simon in the end zone and along with two Paul McCallum field goals and a safety given by Damon Duval the only scoring the Eskimos got was a single off a missed field goal from Duval.

This was one of the worst games I was able to witness at Commonwealth Stadium but why did things go so wrong for this Edmonton club? Ricky Ray had no protection! His oline was sub par newly acquired lineman Chris Patrick did not impress anyone in his debut as Ricky Ray and Kerry Joseph were sacked a combined 8 times. A good sign though was that DB Wompamo Osaisai was all over the field breaking up passes and hitting everything that was wearing BC orange and white.

Kavis Reed in the post game media scrum said that this was “one of the worst losses as a player or a coach” and I can see why. If I had to grade this performance of the Esks it would be a big time F (maybe a D- either way that's still horrible). Well we did see history tonight as the Esks scored 1 point for the first time since 1997 when they lost 27-1 to guess who? The BC Lions, also Geroy Simon passed Darren Flutie for 3rd place all time on the CFL's all time receiving yards list.

The Esks are still a top team in the western division at 5-3 only behind the 5-2 Calgary Stampeders but this is still not good at all and when the Eskimos come back from their bye week they better be ready to smack people in the mouth and show the rest of the league that they can dominate.

BC (2-6) and Edmonton (5-3) go into the bye week now but when they get going again the Eskimos travel to Calgary (5-2) for the Labour Day classic on September 5thth and BC takes on Toronto in Toronto (2-6) on September 2nd.

Why a picture of Arland Bruce when it was listed as Eskimos article? That was as close as I could come to a pic that would work in the article format blame the internet or fried butter for that.

Before I go here's some post game audio

My interview with Travis Lulay (small goof on my part I said he found Shawn Gore in the end zone)
