We all heard about the story in the national post about Ti Cats long snapper Jordan Matechuk, who, decided it was a good idea to try and smuggle over a small fortune in illegal drugs.

Obviously the CFL is not paying these guys enough. But that is a different story all together.
It seems like steroids have been a big issue in sports since I can remember At the Olympics, at the Tour de France, Barry Bonds and the long list of MLB players which I have included in this link for fun facts, http://thesteroidera.blogspot.com/2006/08/list-of-steroid-hgh-users-in-baseball.html, USC scandal and lets not forget the one that may be close to our hearts is Ben “ I Cheetah “ Johnson. This list could go on but know we need to add the CFL to it.
Matechuk opened up a big concern for the league because he is obviously supplying a demand. This scares me because, not to sound ignorant, but I always wanted to believe the CFL was a pure game, unlike the rest. However, I need to wake up and face reality. The CFL has a drug problem.
The Ti-Cats made the right decision by releasing Matechuk, even though it is hard to find a good long snapper especially in the CFL where the kicking game really is 1/3 of the game. According to the article he could face up to 4 years in prison. Maybe it wasn’t the smartest decision to try and cross the border twice on his way to Hamilton.
So instead of being in steel town he may be spending time behind steel bars.
