The CFL announced it's Gibson's Finest CFL Players of the week.
From CFL.ca: "TORONTO – Montreal running back Brandon Whitaker and linebacker Chip Cox along with Justin Medlock and Jermaine Reid were awarded top honours in Week 3 of the Gibson's Finest CFL Players of the Week.
The four players were chosen by a panel of judges including: former Canadian Football League players Matt Dunigan and Duane Forde , now of TSN, and Pierre Vercheval of RDS.
Gibson’s Finest CFL Offensive Player of the Week Brandon Whitaker RB – Montreal Alouettes
Montreal Alouettes’ running back Brandon Whitaker made an impressive contribution to the Als’ 40-17 win over the Toronto Argonauts on Friday night. Whitaker’s strong running game, including 16 carries for 120 yards and a touchdown, earned him Gibson’s Finest CFL Offensive Player of the Week. Whitaker was also a valuable member of the Als’ receiving corps registering 11 receptions for 94 yards.
Gibson’s Finest CFL Defensive Player of the Week Chip Cox LB – Montreal Alouettes
Montreal Alouettes’ linebacker Chip Cox capitalized on a Toronto Argonaut fumble on the Als’ two-yard line in the final minutes of the division match-up. Cox returned the ball for a 108-yard touchdown, tying the record for longest fumble return previously set by Omarr Morgan in 2009 and securing the Als’ third-straight victory. Cox also registered seven tackles and intercepted a pass made by Argos’ quarterback Cleo Lemon, returning it 47 yards.
Gibson’s Finest CFL Special Teams Player of the Week
Justin Medlock
P/K – Hamilton Tiger-Cats
Hamilton Tiger-Cats’ kicker Justin Medlock was awarded Gibson’s Finest CFL Special Teams Player of the Week for contributing 15 points in the Ticats 33-3 win over the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Medlock connected with all four field goal attempts and three extra points, and had four punts for 140 yards on Saturday afternoon.
Gibson’s Finest CFL Canadian Player of the Week Jermaine Reid DT – Edmonton Eskimos
Edmonton Eskimos’ defensive tackle Jermaine Reid earned Gibson’s Finest CFL Canadian Player of the Week registering four tackles and one sack against the BC Lions on Saturday night. This is Reid’s first year with the Eskimos after playing four seasons with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats."
